A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO…

Hello, my name is Shauna and I am the Founder and CEO of Welcome Preemie ®.

I am a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse in Boston, MA with over 10 years of nursing experience. I have truly enjoyed working with the world’s tiniest patients and their families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery. In this tiny patient population I am very passionate about their safety and being an advocate.

I first thought about the idea of Welcome Preemie ® while I was working as a Registered Nurse in Norfolk, VA in a Level III NICU. As a NICU nurse I have observed parents and healthcare professionals dress and undress premature babies while attached to medical devices. I have concluded that a very tiny baby attached to life saving medical devices can be challenging to dress when wearing non NICU friendly clothing. For parents this may bring about anxiety and fear that they may dislodge a medical device. For healthcare professionals we may spend a great deal of time trying to access medical devices and the patient when wearing non NICU friendly clothing.

This is why I designed the Welcome Preemie Pajama, a critical clothing item that allows all parents of premature babies to feel safe and confident in dressing and undressing their baby whilst attached to medical devices. The Welcome Preemie Pajama allows healthcare professionals to save critical time by having fast access to their patients while clothed in the NICU. My mission is to supply parents and Neonatal ICUs with clothing that is safe and easy accessible.

I hope you will enjoy using Welcome Preemie’s products as much as I enjoyed creating them.

WHAT WE DO…

Welcome Preemie provides clothing and accessories that allows easy access to intravenous lines (IV tubes), feeding tubes, electrocardiogram wires and any other external devices in use while babies are in the hospital. We also curate gift boxes that include carefully selected products that will allow parents of premature babies to experience ease and joy along their journeys.

Dressing a premature baby with external devices can cause the baby undue stress and is also very frightening for new parents. Keeping this in mind, we have designed a clothing line that will allow dressing to be a positive experience for both baby and parents while in the hospital. We believe in the beautiful practice of mindful touch in relation to the premature baby population.

Our goal is to make the time you spend with your baby full of joy, one outfit and helping hand at a time.
